Natural
Health Shops
The growth and spread of Natural
health information and education has resulted in a
steady rise in the number of patients willing to try
alternative treatments and medication. The growth of
Naturopathy, sparked by the opening of a four year
college in Portland, and then further fueled by the
spread of information through the internet has meant
that the natural health shop has also become necessary
to cater to the needs of the public.
Due to the wide variety of fields that come under
naturopathy, including yoga, homeopathy, massage
therapy, hydrotherapy, diet and nutrition, acupuncture
and aromatherapy, the number of different products
available is virtually infinite. Hence, to provide
consumers with products like yoga mats or diet manuals
and even medicinal herbs, a natural health shop or two
have opened up in every country across the globe. Due to
the cultural roots of certain treatments, such as
ayurvedic medication in India and acupuncture in China,
certain therapies are more popular in certain regions of
the world, and hence the variety and number of shops is
different. Certain treatments also tend to operate more
as services rather than being sold as products, such as
hydrotherapy, which requires the use of expensive water
beds. These types of treatments are instead provided by
practitioners and shop owners who charge clients on an
hourly basis.
Additionally the advent of the internet has not only
fueled the growth of Naturopathy as a profession, but
many natural health shop goods can now be purchased over
the internet and delivered anywhere in the world. These
online natural health stores are perfect for finding
just about anything you could think of and is great for
those that do not have shops near them. Certain
medications that do not require prescriptions or other
products that can be freely consumed are often sold over
the internet to global customers. This has further
helped in the spread of naturopathy and its uses.
